The Civil Aviation function is responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of aviation policy, legislation and applicable international requirements in Sint Maarten.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Aviation Responsibilities

Airport Matters

Advising on matters concerning airports and related transport and telecommunication services.

Policy & Legislation

Responsibility for aviation policy, laws and legislation and supervision of their implementation.

Aviation Policy Coordination

Coordinating aviation policy with ministries, Kingdom partners, independent governing bodies and private agencies.

Aviation Register

Management of the Aviation Register of Sint Maarten.

Safety & Compliance

Supervision of compliance with applicable laws, legislation and international treaties.

Aero-Technical & Operational Activities

Oversight of applicable aero-technical and operational activities of government and private aviation organizations.

Safe and Effective Aviation

The Department of Civil Aviation, Shipping and Maritime Affairs performs the civil aviation authority function for Sint Maarten and oversees applicable aviation safety, security and operational requirements.
